How to Export Your WhatsApp Chats

WhatsApp has a built-in export feature that works on both iPhone and Android. Choose your platform below for step-by-step instructions.

iPhone

iOS 14.0 or later

Export your chat through WhatsApp settings and save to Files.

WhatsApp for Android

Export via the menu and save to Google Drive or share directly.

Make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed. The export feature has been available since 2019.

Large chats with years of messages can take several minutes to export. Be patient and don't close the app.

Make sure you're uploading the .zip file, not a .txt file. The export should create a file named like "WhatsApp Chat - Name.zip".
